Little Oaks Forest School Ofsted Report

Looking Forward to Spring

Welcome to our Spring term 2018, after having such an exciting Winter term at Little Oaks Forest School we are looking forward to the signs of Spring in the park along with all the natural wonders Nonsuch park provides. We have celebrated, Chinese New Year, along with Shrove Tuesday (pancake day) we cooked pancakes on our Forest School fire. For World Book Day on 1st March the children dressed up as their favourite book characters, some parents and carers joined us to share stories with the children. Science week, 12th - 15th March is a first for Little Oaks, this week has started with Beatrix dad joining us to demonstrate some amazing science experiments with the children which included colourful flames. We are looking forward to more science activities throughout the week which parents will be sharing with the children. Parents and carers will join us for our Walk in the Woods Week 9th April and our annual planting week on the 16th April.

At Forest School we will visiting various locations of Nonsuch park for our Forest School activities, will be cooking lots of lovely recipes on the open fire. We will be introducing our older children to various tools such as bow saws, hand drills and peelers to make some wonderful creations.

Our Fundraising So Far,

During the Autumn term we were overwhelmed with the continued support of our Little Oaks Forest School parents. With your generous donations that we collected on behalf of the Epsom and Ewell Food Bank, Trussell Trust.

Children in Need fundraising, through the children’s themed baking during our Nursery Rhyme Week we managed to raise £137 for Children in Need.

Our collections during the children’s Christmas songs and the Rangers ‘Little Fir Tree’ performance on the 12th December over at Mansion House Nonsuch Park Performance raised £75 for the umbrella of Text Santa charities. After all the children’s performances parents/carers joined us for mince pies and mulled wine.

Our recent PTA Quiz Night was a great success, many parents and family friends joined us at Cheam Parochial rooms for an evening of fun and laughter, we enjoyed a Fish and Chip supper. This event managed to raise over £500, which is already being used to provide the children with yellow puddle suits.

We would like to say a big thank you to Daisy Domenghini and Alison Gunn for organising this event and everyone who came along to support this Quiz Night evening or made a kind raffle donation.
